What’s up, everyone? Here’s a little info on yours truly. Starting in ’93 I was first introduced to tattooing. One of my late uncles used to tattoo out of our living room. So we used to watch and think it was cool. So we took his home made machine one day and tattooed ourselves at age 9. Yeah, I was an early starter.
He also airbrushed cars and that’s when I first learned to draw. He taught me the strangest way of drawing and I stuck to it. That took me through the years until 2005 when I did my first tattoo in San Jose. The crazy thing is that I refused to tattoo them. I didn’t want to tattoo. Tattooing in shops wasn’t for me. It took them 3 years to get me to actually tattoo them. But hey, peer pressures a mutha, right? But after the first tattoo, I got hooked.
Some people start off tattooing and don’t know how to draw. Me I knew art and knew it shouldn’t look like that so I determined to make it look like my drawings. So the next 2 years I tried many different things. It wasn’t till 2009 that I actually got the flow and started getting ahead. By this time I had been through many tattoo shops in San Jose. After 2009 I knew that working in shops wasn’t for me. There were too much bullshit and drama. So I worked from home till 2011 when I opened Soul Imagez Tattoo.
Now I operate my own tattoo shop in San Jose and can create the work and memories of my own. My people are my people and they can never lose contact with me. If they need me I’ll always be there. And I can create art with a cool mellow shop like I always wanted. One thing though is I’ll never be done. I’ll always make better art. As an artist, I will never stop learning. So stick around and see where we go.
